Macbeth / Mac Beatha

Curtha i láthair ag Bualadh Bos:

Macbeth / Mac Beaṫa

le William Shakespeare
Léamh réamh-léirithe

Aistriúchán nua Gaeilge ar Macbeth, ceann de na tragóidí is mó i litríocht an domhain. Aistrithe ag Sean Ó Tarpaigh.
Dráma é Macbeth atá lán le draíocht, teannas agus aicsean le radhairc mhóra bhríomhaire agus caraictéirí iontacha.
Tá an t-aistriúchán seo dílis do stíl agus d’fhilíocht Shakespeare ach ag úsáid gnáth-Ghaeilge ár linne.
“Dá mbeadh sé déanta, agus é déanta
Ní mór a bheith déanta tapaigh:…”
Is í Gaeilge chlasaiceach a bhí á labhairt ag an Rí Mac Beatha san 11ú haois agus mar gheall ar sin tugann leagan Gaeilge léargas ar leith ar an scéal, m.sh. an íoróin san ainm Mac Beatha agus é freagrach as dúnmharú an Rí agus as scrios agus caismirt sa tír.
Léamh réamh-léirithe atá againn a thugann deis don lucht féachana a gcuid dtuairimí a roinnt ag deireadh na hoíche.

Macbeth / Mac Beaṫa

Rehearsed Reading

A new Irish language translation of Macbeth, one of the great tragic dramas in world literature. Translated by Sean Ó Tarpaigh.
Macbeth is a play full of magic, tension and violence with some of the most famous scenes and fascinating characters in Shakespeare.
This is a translation faithful to the rhyme and metre of Shakespeare’s poetry but also using every-day, modern Irish.

“Dá mbeadh sé déanta, agus é déanta
Ní mór a bheith déanta tapaigh…”
(If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well
It were done quickly.)

Classical Irish was the language in use by the 11th Century King Macbeth of Scotland. For this reason an Irish language translation brings fresh insights to the story e.g. the irony of Macbeth’s name (Mac Beatha meaning “Son of Life”) for one who kills the king and causes murder and mayhem through the land.
This is a rehearsed reading and there will be a chance for the audience to offer questions and comments at the end of the evening.
