THE MCGOWAN TRILOGY
in An Taibhdhearc Theatre, Middle Street, Galway City, on the 5th and 6th of June 2015.
Directed by Adrian Lavelle, The McGowan Trilogy follows the exploits of IRA Assassin Victor McGowan over a two year period in 1980s Ireland which consists of three interwoven one-act plays, ‘Dancing At Lunacy’, ‘The Long Wet Grass’ & ‘Boys Swam Before Me’.
Wolf Meets World are thrilled and honoured that Seamus has chosen their company to stage the Irish premiere of this finely written, award winning showcase that was first produced by The Cell Theater in New York in September 2014 as part of the first Irish Theater Festival (Origin Theater).
***Please note The McGowan Trilogy has strong language, violence and poetic license, not to mention song lyrics gone awry, so Galwegians may embrace it. There will also be loud flash bang noises during the duration of the performances.***
‘A trio of plays that begins with comedy and irreverence and ends with pathos and loss is surprising, original and hugely enjoyable – Christian O Reilly (Chapatti)’
‘Scanlon’s irreverent eviscerations of the pieties of Irish nationalism are darkly comic, disturbing and curiously affecting – Declan Hughes (Digging For Fire, All The Things You Are)’
