Join The Kings of Connaught for a wonderful night of Irish Ballads and Folk songs in An Taibhdhearc in Galway on Friday, June 15th. Very special guest on the night will be Louise Morrissey from Bansha, Co. Tipperary who has long been regarded by folk and country music enthusiasts as one of Ireland’s greatest vocal treasures.
The Kings of Connaught have taken up the mantle of keeping alive our great heritage and culture of Irish Ballads and are doing so with great success. These young West of Ireland multi-instrumentalists grew up in East Galway, steeped in the tradition of Irish folk music and features Liam O’Grady (vocals, 5 string banjo & guitar), Mark Costello (vocals, long neck banjo and guitar), Macdara Connolly (mandolin, tenor banjo, bass guitar & vocals), Thomas Ryan (whistle, guitar), and Michael Tully (piano accordion).
The band’s talent and youth appeal have caught the eye of the industry both at home and abroad. Their first two singles The Rocky Road to Dublin and Right all Right have been receiving great airplay throughout the Country and has garnered them a legion of fans both young and old. The Kings of Connaught were given the special honour in March of Launching the Manchester Irish Festival and are already planning another tour of the UK and Europe. They are excited to be stepping into the recording studio over the coming weeks to record another single from their highly anticipated forthcoming album. A busy summer ahead!
Enjoy an unmissable night’s entertainment filled with a foot tapping selection of Irish ballads, folk songs and craic in the great tradition of The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers and The Fureys etc.
They are thrilled to have Multi award winning Louise Morrissey as their special guest. Louise will enthral and delight with her captivating vocals and along with her brother Norman, will sing some of their many classic songs from their days as Irish Folk Group The Morrisseys such as The Old Rustic Bridge by the Mill and Red is the Rose.
