3ú Bealtaine @ 8pm | 4ú Bealtaine @ 6pm | 60 nóim | An Taibhdhearc

Is saothar nua é Ní Liomsa an Teach Álainn Seo a mheascann drámaíocht trialach le monológ, ceol agus ealaín digitach. Is é ‘Imeacht’ ábhar na scéala seo. Tá ceithre shuíomh agus áit difriúla ann, faoi dhaoine a bhí ag fágáil nó a bhí tréigthe. Úsáidtear seanchas, scéalaíocht agus ceol an chruit sa cur i láthair seo. Is cuireadh é seo chuig cainteoirí dúchasacha, agus dóibh siúd atá suim acu i scealaíocht, nó spéis acu sa teanga. Is í Seoirsín Bashford an t-aisteoir a bhéas a chur i láthair agus is í Anna Ní Dhúill an scríobhneoir.

Ham Sandwiches and Discipline - NAF Dance

5ú & 6ú Bealtaine @ 8pm | 50 nóim | An Taibhdhearc

The raw theatricality of sports, spectators and matches are calling to be on the stage. 30 jerseys hanging out on the line, soaking muddy stud boots, vexed commentators, bitter cold sideline screaming to the ritualistic trips to Croke Park. Such complex, human stories seep through to reveal how we relate to something so associated with the core of an Irish identity. Our understanding of what it means to be Irish is ever changing through the global lens. But the GAA captures the idea of tradition and change encapsulated in a beacon of Irish history. Through the marathon of emotions that charges a match, what is it about this amateur sport that incites such passion as a nation? Culminating in a theatrical showcase of the GAA saturated with comedy, tragedy and poetic play in motion. The wackiness, passion and intensity come together in exemplifying the beautiful madness of this world.

The Dead House - Martin Beanz Ward

8ú & 9ú Bealtaine |50 nóim|An Taibhdhearc

“We are gathered at the dead house. Such a morbid name, I mean, there is still another person alive in that place, my granny. My grandfather’s cold and lifeless body is laid out so that we can all have a final moment to say goodbye. “Goodbye grandad”, as if he can even hear us.” Patrick is an Irish Traveller who hasn’t been home in ten years but returns from self-exile for his grandfather’s funeral. Comedian and writer Martin Warde’s debut play is a powerful and moving dark comedy that explores complex themes of family, tradition, and self- acceptance. Set in the house of the deceased, the play is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of finding one’s voice and identity.

Maoinithe ag Arts Council, An Chomhairle Ealaíon Developed with the support of FUEL, Druid’s artist residency programme.
